If you read my post on I Heart Faces yesterday, you saw the April Fool’s joke Angie and I had been working on for a while now. We cracked ourselves up coming up with the spoof on Trends in Senior Photography by having actual “senior” citizens in the photos!!
While visiting family in Oklahoma, I needed to take photos of my Grandma for our prank. I found a terrific location across the street from the senior citizen center where she had just played bunco with her friends. What luck!
Not only did Grandma get a kick out of having to pose like a teenager, she enjoyed my assistant who had my camera bag strapped across his chest. Because I had put him in charge of such expensive equipment, he double checked to make sure everything was in place:-) So mature!
I had a blast taking photos of my Grandma and her friend Gertie. It was hard to keep Grandma from giggling.
I finally got her to give me that dreamy… “I’m off to college and a new life look” just like what you see in so many senior portraits. Awww! Isn’t she cute?! ha!
Because I knew my assistant was probably bored to tears, I asked him for my bag so I could change camera lenses. Giving him something to do would make him feel so grown up and helpful. Remember how he was double checking the bag to make sure everything was in place? Such a responsible little guy!
Then to my horror, I realized the whole time we were shooting, he was climbing on the building! Because an assistant must be prepared at all times, he still had my expensive equipment strapped to his back!
So much for being responsible and helpful. What a goofball!!
He’s just lucky he didn’t break anything. That is… in my camera bag!!
As the day went on, we changed locations. Putting a chair in the middle of a field is a really hot trend right now. Go Grandma!
Of course, Mr. Mature was right along with us.
Overall, we had a really fun day and made some great memories with Grandma. She and my mom never had boys, so this little one sure gives them something to talk about!! Have a great Easter weekend. Hopefully you can get some photos with your grandparents too.
Did you get fooled on April 1st?

Ha – you’ve got to be kidding. Well, I know you’re kidding, but you know what I mean. Senior photography at it’s finest. I wonder what SPA would do if you entered one of these images in competition?
